DOHA: Qatar Stock Exchange’s (QSE) benchmark index made a significant gain of 307.87 points, or 2.97 percent, last week when the bourse closed yesterday at 10,658.22 points.
Trading value during last week increased by 121.83 percent to reach QR1.47bn compared to QR663.30m at the end of previous week.
Trading volume increased by 139.21 percent to reach 71.84 million shares, as against 30.03 million shares, while the number of transactions rose by 70.31 percent, to reach 38,073 transactions as compared to 22,355 transactions.
Market cap rose by 3.43 percent to reach QR611.45bn as compared to QR591.15bn at the end of previous week, reports QNA. Banking and Financial Services sector led traded value last week with 34.11 percent of the total traded value. Industries sector accounted for 28.60 percent. Real Estate sector accounted for 14.59 percent and Consumer Goods and Services sector accounted 8.15 percent.
Industries sector led traded volume last week with 33.71 percent of the total traded volume. Banking and Financial Services sector accounted for 26.63 percent. Real Estate sector accounted for 18.12 percent and Telecoms sector accounted 10.71 percent.
Industries sector led traded number of transactions last week with 42.46 percent of the total number of transactions. Banking and Financial Services sector accounted for 22.59 percent. Real Estate sector accounted for 13.83 percent and Telecoms sector accounted 7.03 percent.
From the 46 listed companies 36 ended last week higher, while nine fell and one remained unchanged.
QNB led traded value during last week accounted for 16.4 percent of the total traded value. Qatar Aluminum accounted for 9.05 percent and Industries Qatar accounted 7.36 percent.
When compared on daily basis, the QSE index gained 123.09 points, or 1.17 percent, compared to Wednesday’s closing.
The volume of shares traded decreased to 10.90 million from 14.67 million on Wednesday and the value of shares decreased to QR348.76m from QR1.13bn on Wednesday.
From the 49 companies listed on QSE, shares of 47 saw trading yesterday. From these, 27 companies gained, 14 closed lower and six remained unchanged.
