Barwa holds field training for QU engineering students

Doha: Barwa Real Estate held a ceremony for engineering students at Qatar University, for completing their vocational and field training programme which Barwa, organised as part of its collaboration with Qatar University in the field of expertise sharing, scientific research and academic and professional cooperation.

Barwa team of engineers specialised in real estate development provided an integrated vocational and field training programme to Qatar University engineering students, which spanned over a month of fieldwork and intensive studies. The engineering students were briefed about all Barwa projects and the strategic approach that the group pursues in choosing its various investment and development opportunities, whether in relation to the group’s land bank or its current and potential projects as part of the partnership between the public and private sectors. 

The programme offered a detailed study during which engineering students looked into a variety of developmental opportunities for Lusail Land, the largest land currently owned by Barwa Real Estate and located in the northern part of Lusail City, extending over an area of 3.5 million square metres. 

The students also received field training in the Madinatuna project and Barahat Al Janoub project, accompanied by the project managers and the developmental teams from both projects.

Group CEO of Barwa Real Estate, Abdulla bin Jobara Al Romaihi, welcomed Qatar University VIPs and handed over certificates of appreciation to the participating students. Al Romaihi expressed the importance of such collaborations in the field of vocational and field training.

As the pioneers of this field at local and regional levels, we are committed to supporting and developing Qatari talents and calibre who will be building the future of Qatar. Every Qatari establishment must put their expertise into service through guiding the Qatari youth and supporting Qatar National Vision 2030,” said Al Romaihi.

Dean of the College of Engineering at Qatar University, Dr. Khalid Kamal Naji, said: “This collaboration is part of the memorandum of understanding which Qatar University signed with Barwa Real Estate recently. Under this MoU, Barwa is offering vocational and field training programmes to train engineering students and support their integration into the workplace.”

Dr. Naji added, “We thank Barwa Real Estate Group for the training programmes granted to our students who studied the strategic approach adopted by the group in selecting its various investment and development opportunities. Moreover, they also conducted a detailed study on Lusail Land considering a variety of development options for the project. Such training programmes are significant for our students to help them advance their skills and have a great impact on diversifying their expertise, knowledge and skills”.
