Mayor-Governor of Vienna affirms depth of Austria-Qatar relations

Socialist Mayor and Governor of Vienna H E Dr. Michael Ludwig affirmed the depth of the Austria-Qatar relations, expressing his aspiration to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various fields, especially in science, innovation and digitization, as well as the establishment of smart cities and in the framework of sustainability, green environment, sports and culture.

During his meeting with Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Federal Republic of Austria and the Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the UN and the international organizations in Vienna H E Sultan bin Salmeen Al Mansouri, Ludwig praised the cooperation between the two friendly countries and the exchange of visits at the highest levels, in addition to the role of Qatar Airways in strengthening the bonds of friendship and bilateral relations.

For his part, Al Mansouri affirmed the State of Qatar’s keenness to support the cooperation with the Republic of Austria, and the City of Vienna in particular, in various fields, stressing that the visit of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad AlThani to Vienna two years ago has opened new horizons for cooperation in a way that consolidates the Qatari-Austrian relations in the service of the people of the two countries.

It is noteworthy that Mayor and Governor of Vienna Dr. Michael Ludwig, who has been the chairman of the Social Democratic Party in Vienna since 2018, is considered one of the most prominent political figures, and enjoys great influence and respect within Austria.

He had distinguished positions in enhancing AustrianArab relations, in addition to his keenness to protect the Muslim community and ensure the peaceful coexistence of different religions within Austrian society away from hatred and racism.

Vienna is the national capital of Austria, one of the country’s nine provinces, and the largest city with a population of about two million. It is also considered the cultural, economic and political centre of the country.

Over the past ten years, Vienna has been chosen by the global living index as the best city in the world to live in because of the high-quality standards of economic, social and health well-being, as well as the safety and greenness that distinguish it from the rest of the world’s cities.
