There is comprehensive cooperation between the Stae of Qatar and Russia in all fields, where more than 60 joint cooperation agreements were signed during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) between government institutions and private sector from Qatar and Russian institutions and companies, said Qatar’s envoy to Russia.
Speaking to Sputnik, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Russian Federation, H E Sheikh Ahmed bin Nasser Al Thani, pointed out that Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani gave lofty directions, during the Forum, to raise the level of trade partnership between Qatar and Russia, and to strengthen the distinguished relations between the two countries.
The ambassador stressed that Russia is a strategic and important partner for the State of Qatar, noting that the St. Petersburg Forum will give a strong impetus to strengthening the partnership and doubling the level of trade exchange between the two countries.
Sheikh Ahmed added that the two countries aspire to raise trade exchange to a higher level compared to what exists because the two countries have great economic potentials, rich experiences and diverse opportunities for cooperation.
He pointed out that the Qatari investments in the Russian market amounted to about $13.5bn, which is the largest invested in Russia, as it is concentrated in the energy sector, construction, trade and other fields. Sheikh Ahmed stated that there are tendencies in the two countries to expand the economic partnership, and some of them will be announced after the forum, and there is a large amount of investments between Qatar and Russia, noting that the presence of Qatar as a guest of honour at the Forum gave an impetus to intensify trade exchange and investments.
He explained that everyone knows that Russia has a strong economy, and a country with reliable partnerships.
The Ambassador stressed Qatar’s readiness for cooperation and partnership with Russia, adding that there are many major agreements that will be concluded in the coming period between the two countries.
The ambassador also spoke about the prospects of Qatar’s acquisition of a part of Vnukovo Airport in Moscow and the Qatari investments in the infrastructure of the aviation sector in Russia.
Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Russian Federation, H E Sheikh Ahmed bin Nasser Al Thani said that the agreements between the State of Qatar and Russia in the aviation sector are almost complete, and thanks to the impetus given by the Forum, these agreements will be ready and complete.
The State of Qatar has distinguished relations with the Russian side in trade, economy and culture, not only with Moscow, but with its regions as well, stressing his participation in Kazan economic summit, which will be held at the end of June 2021.
Sheikh Ahmed, also touched on the current situation as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, and cooperation in the health field, pointing out that there is cooperation in the health and medical field with Russia, including the field of vaccines.
