Geneva: The State of Qatar participated in the 9th session of the meeting of the Intergovernmental Group of Experts (IGE) on Consumer Protection Law and Policy.
The event was organized by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) from July 6-10, 2026, at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.
The delegation was led by Assistant Undersecretary for Consumer Affairs at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Hassan bin Sultan Al Ghanim.
The meeting discussed ways to develop legislation and policies related to consumer protection and competition, enhance product safety, and address challenges associated with e-commerce and digital markets.
It likewise addressed avenues for combating harmful goods and unfair commercial practices, strengthening international cooperation, and exchanging best practices, thereby contributing to fostering competitive markets and protecting consumer rights.
