Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has issued an official public advisory urging citizens, residents, and business owners to verify the authenticity of all electronic links before attempting to access its online portals.
The Ministry’s initiative is designed to combat online fraud, protect sensitive personal data, and safeguard confidential financial information from increasingly sophisticated cyber threats and phishing attacks.
Authority officials yesterday warned members of the public against clicking on links received from untrusted sources, unverified social media messages, or suspicious online advertisements.
Users are also cautioned against relying on unverified search engine results, which can sometimes lead to fraudulent websites impersonating official government channels. Cybercriminals often attempt to mimic government domains to harvest user credentials, personal identification details, and financial data.
To ensure safe navigation and secure transactions, the Ministry reiterated that users should only access its services through its officially designated channels.
The primary official portal for the Ministry of Commerce and Industry can be reached directly at www.moci.gov.qa, while business services and corporate registrations should be processed exclusively through the Single Window Platform at investor.sw.gov.qa.
The Ministry also emphasised that verifying web addresses before entering sensitive details remains a crucial defence against electronic fraud. The public requiring further assistance, clarification, or information regarding the MoCI’s digital services are encouraged to call the official call centre hotline directly at 16001.
