Qatar University College of Pharmacy (QU-CPH) recognised 121 of its highest achieving students for the Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 semesters by hosting a virtual 9th Annual Dean’s List ceremony, which honoured their achievements. The ceremony acknowledged pre-pharmacy and pharmacy students’ efforts who made it onto the Dean’s List by achieving a GPA of 3.5 or above.
Assistant Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Alla El-Awaisi, opened the virtual ceremony. This was followed by welcoming remarks from CPH Dean Dr. Mohammad Diab and the announcement of the students’ names on the Dean’s List.
Dr. Mohammad Diab highlighted the College’s achievements over the previous academic year, in which he said: “I wish to congratulate you for your inclusion on this list. This results from your efforts and hard work in the interest of excellence in educational attainment, which was also met with huge support from your parents, who played a great role in providing the appropriate environment until you reached the distinction and honor list.
“Also, I cannot forget to mention the great effort exerted by the college’s faculty members. QU-CPH has always sought excellence in its education, scientific research, and various services, and this distinction comes within the framework and strategy of excellence at Qatar University as a leading educational institution in the region.”
Dr. Alla El Awaisi, in her opening speech, said: “The Dean’s List is an academic award to recognise the remarkable achievements of undergraduate students who achieved the highest grades in all the courses they studied. Despite the COVID-19 challenges, our students at the College of Pharmacy have proven, as always, their outstanding academic performance. They have earned the right to be honored in today’s ceremony despite this difficult period and challenging circumstances.”
Doctor of Pharmacy student Sara Thiab, who received the 8th and 9th Pin, commented, “It is a pleasure to have one’s efforts appreciated and being on the Dean’s list is one achievement that feeds into that and boosts motivation. I’m grateful to our professors who always thrive on bringing out the best in all of us, and to our college administration for recognizing both extracurricular and academic excellence, motivating students to continue working hard.“
Final year student Hend Al-Naimi, who received the 6th and 7th Pin, commented, “I am very proud and delighted to be recognized on the Dean’s list for the 7th time in such demanding and strong programme. The fact that the College of Pharmacy ensures to recognise the hard work and celebrate our achievements through this event is rewarding. It empowers us to work harder and continue to seek excellence.”
