Doha, Qatar: The Waqf Studies Centre, affiliated with the General Directorate of Endowments at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, organised a scientific seminar marking the sixth release in its Contemporary Studies Series, titled, Waqf Investment and Its Contemporary Issues: The Moroccan Case.
The book is authored by Dr. Saleh Al-Nashat, a lecturer at the Faculty of Legal, Economic and Social Sciences at Hassan II University in the Kingdom of Morocco. The seminar was broadcast live on the General Directorate of Endowments’ official YouTube channel.
The event forms part of a series of academic seminars hosted by the Waqf Studies Centre, aimed at strengthening intellectual and academic collaboration among researchers and specialists, and raising awareness of economic, waqf, and investment issues, their importance, and their rulings within Islamic Sharia.
During the seminar, presented by Dr. Al-Mukhtar Al-Ahmar, the discussion addressed waqf investment and its contemporary challenges from both jurisprudential and legislative perspectives. The presentation explored how modern financing instruments and contemporary waqf investment models can contribute to increasing waqf returns and improving their efficiency, while adhering to Sharia controls and waqf regulations.
The study focused in particular on the Moroccan experience in waqf investment, while also reviewing transformations witnessed in several waqf models across the Arab and Islamic world.
The publication stands out for its scientific rigor, comprehensive indexing, and elegant academic presentation, reflecting its mission to serve scholars, promote waqf awareness, and encourage investment culture within society.
The General Directorate of Endowments also encourages philanthropists wishing to establish endowments that support approved waqf channels to contribute through the various available waqf methods, enabling ongoing charity and lasting reward.
