Doha, Qatar: The State of Qatar welcomed the adoption of Resolution 2817 by the UN Security Council, which condemns Iranian attacks on several countries in the region and affirms respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of these countries, rejecting the targeting of civilians and vital infrastructure.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar stressed the need to immediately halt Iranian attacks to spare the region the dangers of escalation and to strengthen international peace and security.
It affirmed that the adoption of the resolution reflects the broad international condemnation of Iranian aggression, which violates the sovereignty of these countries and contravenes international law and the UN Charter.
The Ministry reiterated the State of Qatar’s call for an immediate cessation of all escalatory actions, a return to the negotiating table, the prioritization of reason and wisdom, and efforts to contain the crisis in a way that preserves the security of the region, protects the interests of its peoples, and prevents a slide into wider confrontations.
