Department of Meteorology warns of strong wind, high sea

Doha: Weather inshore tonight until 6am on Monday will be slightly dusty at times at some places with scattered clouds, the Department of Meteorology said in its daily weather report.

The department had earlier tweeted that “we now monitor north-west winds ranging from 12-22 knots with up to 28 knots in Al Jumayliyah, and offshore the wind speed exceeds 25 knots and the wave 7 feet by the latest observations. Please be careful,”

The MET also cautioned to watch out for blowing dust and low visibility especially in open areas and external roads.

Offshore, it will be slightly dusty and partly cloudy with a weak chance of scattered rain at times, the report added, warning of strong wind and high sea.

Wind inshore will be northwesterly to northerly at a speed of 8 to 16 knots gusting to 22 knots at times at some places at first.

Offshore, it will be northwesterly at a speed of 15 to 25 knots.

Visibility will be 4 to 8 kilometers.

Sea state inshore will be 2 to 4 feet. Offshore, it will be 6 to 8 feet.
