Sri Lanka imposes mandatory quarantine for all travelers until May 31

With the spike in number of COVID-19 cases recorded in Sri Lanka, the quarantine process for passengers arriving in the country has been amended.

The Health Ministry of Sri Lanka in a statement has said that, all passengers arriving in Sri Lanka will be required to undergo mandatory quarantine for a period of 14- days.

The passengers include Sri Lankan citizens, dual citizens, foreign nationals, and diplomatic staff.

The Health Ministry said irrespective of the vaccination status, it is mandatory for all passengers arriving in Sri Lanka to undergo quarantine for 14-days. The Ministry further said the quarantine process for passengers arriving from overseas will be implemented with immediate effect.

The statement said that, due to the current COVID-19 situation in Sri Lanka and globally the “quarantine measures are imposed for travelers entering Sri Lanka with immediate effect irrespective of COVID-19 vaccination status.”

 It also said that the quarantine measure is effective until May 31, 2021. 

But the statement added, “This mandatory quarantine period  will be revised depending on the COVID-19 situation in the country and the global situation.”
