Doha: Qatar University’s College of Engineering (QU-CENG) has hosted ATF Training for F-gas Certification.
The event, held in collaboration between (QU-CENG), Ozone unit of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) and ATF (Italy), was sponsored by the Environment Protection Programme of the United Nations.
Eng Abdul Rahman Al Abd Al Jabbar, Director of the Radiation Protection and Chemicals Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment said, “This training programme aims to train technical personnel in the field of air conditioning and refrigeration to become professional in this field to be certified trainers in the areas of air conditioning and refrigeration sector.”
He said that the training comes in line with the United Nations programme for Protection of Environment and proper use of F-gas in the refrigeration industry.
Muna Al Emadi, Head of Dangerous Equipment Section said: “Those present at the training were professional representatives from QU-CENG, Marafeq, Qatar Cool, Aspire, CNA and other entities.”
In his comment, Professor Saud Ghani at QU-CENG Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering said: “The training is indeed an important step to this region which heavily depends on controlled environment as well as refrigerated transport of perishables”.
He said that the college of engineering together with the MME are facilitating this professional training so that the State of Qatar will meet its obligations as signed in the Kyoto and Kigali Protocols regarding the use and handling of the refrigerants.
