S’hail 2021 concludes with exciting bids, falcons on show

Doha: The fifth edition of S’hail — Katara International Hunting and Falcons Exhibition concluded yesterday. The exhibition saw 22 falcons selected for the Mongolian breed of the bird for the second auction held throughout the exhibition.  

During the exhibition, Abdul Aziz Al Kuwari’s bird finished in the first place, bagging a cash prize of QR155,000. Abdullah Mohammed Rashid Abdullah Al Khater won the second place prise of QR75,000, while Shaheen Salem Shaheen Al Ateeq Al Dosari  finished third, winning QR54,000. Abdul Aziz Saleh Al Sulaiti won QR39,500 and Shaheen Salem Shaheen Al Ateeq Al Dosari  won QR48,000, finished fourth and fifth respectively.

In the daily auction, the highest bid, coming on the fourth day, was of Jassim Abdul Latif Al Misnad and the value of the falcon reached QR622,000.

Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of S’hail 2021 and General Manager of the Cultural Village Foundation, honoured the winners of the ‘Most Beautiful Pavilion’ and ‘Most Beautiful Falconhood’ competitions. The prize is to encourage the participating parties to be creative and innovative in designing their pavilions and in support of skills and crafts and traditional industries.

The ‘Most Beautiful Falconhood’ competition was won by ABF (Sheikh Abdullah bin Fahd Al Thani), getting a prize of $3,000, while Oro Falconry came second, receiving $2,000. Falcona Leith was third, bagging $1,000.

The pavilion of Desert Motors and Kinder Shows was declared the most beautiful pavilion and won a prize of $20,000. The concluding day also witnessed visits by several ambassadors. They included  H E Hafeez Mohammed Al Ajmi, the Ambassador of Kuwait; H E Najib bin Yahya Al Balushi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman; H E Dr. Mustafa Boutoura, Ambassador of Algeria; H E Syed Ahsan Raza Shah, Ambassador of Pakistan; H E William Asselborn, Ambassador of Belgium; and H E Jean-Baptiste Faivre, Ambassador of France.

S’hail 2021 hosted 160 companies, representing Qatar and 17 other countries.

Salem bin Mabkhout Al Marri, Director of Public Relations and Communications at the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara), and a member of the Executive Committee of S’hail expressed his happiness with the great success of the fifth edition of the exhibition, which has become an important global event. 

He said the festival reflects Katara’s prestigious position in hosting heritage exhibitions and international cultural festivals. It reached the highest levels of readiness and efficiency, reinforcing its pioneering role as a crossroad of cultures and preserving heritage.
