H E Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabor Al Thani, former Prime Minister of Qatar, has said that the money siege countries were spending on lobbyists to promote their ideas in West against Qatar should have been spent on the development projects of those GCC countries.

“The development in Gulf countries’ and citizens’ needs in various (GCC countries) are not at the same level. The countries which are spending money on campaigns against Qatar have no justification and I think this crisis is fabricated,” H E Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabor Al Thani said in an interview with Russia Today (RT) TV channel.

Sheikh Hamad revealed the reasons behind the resignation of Anthony Zinni, the US’ special envoy to resolve the Gulf crisis last week.

Sheikh Hamad said that he was not surprised by Zinni’s resignation. “I was not surprised because I know that he did not make any progress for several reasons including the fact that the parties that created the crisis still believe that the siege they have imposed on Qatar must continue.”

As well, Sheikh Hamad, said in the interview which was telecasted yesterday, that the siege countries believe that there exist conflict of responsibilities in Washington as this issue is managed by more than one bodies in Washington and this made Zinni’s mission difficult.

Shiekh Hamad added that Anthony Zinni is logical person who has meaningful points. He stressed that one of the reasons for his resignation was obstinacy of siege countries.

“I think Zinni tried to bring the views closer to achieve common ground but the problem is that the US Secretary of State handling the Gulf crisis and at the same time Jared Kushner doing the same job and there are many parties interested for one reason or another in this issue,” H E Shiekh Hamad bin Jassem (pictured) stressed.

He added: “In my personal opinion, I believe that this crisis seems to continue because there are many parties who have interests in this and Washington has started reaping the fruits of the Gulf dispute and many other countries as well.”

“What is being spent on this crisis in the West and the US through lobbyists, consultancy and legal firms is the benefit emerging from this dispute. Therefore, they want this crisis to continue without any resolve or escalation.”

With regard to the consequences of the Gulf crisis and the siege of Qatar, H E Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem said: “Socially and politically, families have been dispersed and we begun to hear very low level language that affected symbols, women, men, living and dead people as well”.

“This is a serious phenomenon,” he said, adding, “It will not end when the crisis ends. The relations between all the GCC countries were not only kinship matter but also affiliation and belongings to one Gulf and people were waiting for one Gulf passport and one currency. Now you see that there is hatred instead.”

H E Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem talked about the hacking of the Qatar News Agency (QNA) saying, “They fabricated news stories to start the dispute by attributing false statement to the Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.”

He added: “When the siege counties exhausted in the first week or in the first month, they started to talk about more than one subject and when one story ended they started new ones. Because, there is no basis for this Gulf crisis, but the purpose of fabricating this crisis is an irresponsible goal by the countries that have taken the decision to fabricate the crisis.”
