Quoting the Ekonomim business news website, Al Jazeera said the sirens at the airbase, which is a key NATO facility that hosts US troops, went off around 3:25am (0025 GMT) for around five minutes.
Two people have been killed in Oman after the downing of a drone in Sohar province, Oman’s state news agency is reporting.
According to AFP, Saudi forces intercepted a drone targeting Riyadh's Diplomatic Quarter housing foreign embassies, the defence ministry said on Friday.

Turkish-owned ship clears Strait of Hormuz with Iran’s permission: Turkish minister
Turkiye’s Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu says a Turkish-owned ship has passed the Strait of Hormuz after receiving approval from Iran.
According to Al Jazeera, Uraloglu was quoted by local media as saying the ship is one of 15 Turkish-owned vessels waiting near Iran that Ankara has been in contact with Tehran about.
“Fifteen ships (with Turkish owners) were there; we obtained permission from the Iranian authorities for one of them, which had used an Iranian port, and it passed,” Uraloglu said, according to news website Haberturk.

Two killed by drone debris in Oman
Two people have been killed in Oman after the downing of a drone in Sohar province, Oman’s state news agency is reporting.
Citing a security source, Al Jazeera said the drone came down in the al-Awahi industrial area, causing injuries in addition to the two deaths of expat workers.
Another drone was also downed in Sohar province, the agency reported.

Saudi forces intercepted a drone targeting Riyadh's Diplomatic Quarter housing foreign embassies, the defence ministry said on Friday.
According to AFP, the "hostile drone" was downed "during an attempt to approach the Diplomatic Quarter", the ministry posted on X. Three more drones were intercepted elsewhere in Saudi Arabia around the same time, the ministry said.
