Qatar University’s (QU) Student Clubs and Organizations manage students’ activities, giving them opportunities to organize activities related to their growth professionally and learning life skills. This year, students organized events to keep pace with the preventive measures about the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year the Students Club and Organization carried out more than 150 events and activities. These activities and events were organized by about 54 accredited student clubs and organizations on campus.

These clubs and organizations are led by students trained and motivated to achieve achievements that inspire and encourage fellow students to join the club or organization. These activities included conferences, seminars, competitions, partnerships with international institutions in Qatar, and providing scientific instructions through social networking sites.

Several campaigns and community charitable programs were also organized, and more will be held by the end of the year, including educational and religious activities during the Holy month of Ramadan.

According to statistics, the club registered a rapid increase in students’ enrollment, reaching 10,937 compared to 7,796 in 2019. These clubs and student organizations have also received several achievements and awards, including the Arab Debating Club (participated in the Gulf Debating Championship organized by Kuwait University).

Student Muhammad Al-Yafei won the title of “The Best Speaker in the Tournament.” The Toastmaster Club at Qatar University, a branch of the Toastmasters International Organization in California, aims to develop public speaking, communication, and leadership skills, earned the award for the most effective member for January and February by a student Ahmed Al-Halhali.

Another student, Abdulrahman Muhammad, won the most effective member for January 2021. The Society of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Engineers, the University branch Qatar was awarded the regional model student branch award.

The leading international society granted the association this award due to the outstanding performance of the group at Qatar University through the organization of many activities and contributions in academic, scientific, developmental, and social journals.

Prof. Abdullah Al-Mulla, Director of Student Activities Department, said, “We are committed to encouraging and helping students participate in these organizations, programs, and activities. This is aimed directly at enabling students to work within groups dominated by a professional work environment that applies democratic procedures and supports integration and attention to vital issues.”
