Doha: Saudi Arabia’s national shooter Saeed Al Mutairi has arrived in Doha to train ahead of the Toyo 2020 Olympics. The skeet shooter will train at Qatar Shooting and Archery Association’s (QSAA) range at Lusail till July 16.
An Asian Games gold medalist at Hiroshima in 1994, Al Mutairi has also won gold and silver at the Arab championships in Baku and Cairo.
“I know that the Olympics are not easy, but I am here to achieve the goal, which will be a turning point in the field of shooting at the Saudi level, especially since the Qatar Olympic Committee and the Qatar Archery and Archery Association has welcomed me to prepare myself for the Olympics,” he said.
Italian Davide, the coach of the Saudi national team, said: “I see Saeed Al Mutairi training in Qatar as a great opportunity, especially with the presence of Qatari athletes and the advanced training facilities that the Lusail shooting ranges possesses."
Majid Al Nuaimi, Secretary-General, QSAA, said: "We are proud of the presence of Saeed Al Mutairi at the Lusail Shooting Ranges Complex and it comes within the framework of general sports cooperation and shooting in particular, in addition to consolidating sports relations between the two countries."
