Doha: The Justice and Equality Movement (JEM), which signed the Doha Document for Peace, praised the achievements of the State of Qatar in Sudan in terms of establishing comprehensive peace and lasting stability in the country.

The JEM said that the State of Qatar remained present on the Sudanese scene as an expression of the strength of the relations and a sign of communication between the people of the two countries to support the development of Sudan.

JEM’ Political Secretary Nahar Osman Nahar said during a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) yesterday that the Sudanese people appreciate the role of the State of Qatar, H H the Amir, the government, the people and the charitable organizations for what they have been providing in terms of humanitarian aid and support of the Sudanese people in the face of challenges in order to reach safety, something the state of Qatar has contributed to in a highly positive and transparent manner based on its regional and international experiences in the areas of peace and laying down the foundations of dialogue and negotiation to solve problems and give priority to peaceful solutions as the basis for any stability and the effective practical steps it is taking to support this trend.

On the final peace agreement that was signed in Juba between the Sudanese government and a number of armed movements this October, with high-level Qatari presence and participation, Nahar indicated that the agreement is a preliminary step to complete the peace process in Sudan, and it is awaiting an appreciated role by donors and partners, foremost of which is the State of Qatar, which realises the importance of peace well in Sudan.

Doha Document for Peace contributed to the establishment of model villages and funds for development projects and the comprehensive renaissance of Darfur, which reinforces the importance of the Qatari role in persuading the peace process more than its predecessors during the next stage due to the urgent need for its expertise and experiences to enrich this aspect.

Nahar also pointed out that the State of Qatar was a sponsor of the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur, which enabled promising chances of success, adding that the current peace process needs clear and sincere official sponsorship with a firm desire to enter the new phase to advance the peace process and make its project matrix succeed.

JEM’ Political Secretary stated the steps taken by the State of Qatar to support Sudanese stability, foremost of which is the position of the State of Qatar in support of the peace process, as well as the state of Qatar's demand to remove Sudan from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism and its integration into the international community, and the honourable stances that followed towards the Sudanese people are in the plight of torrents and floods by operating an air bridge to Sudan and launching popular initiatives that greatly alleviated the suffering of the Sudanese people, which was well received by the Sudanese people who know well the reality of the state of Qatar’s benevolent intentions towards Sudan, especially in light of the humanitarian conditions it is going through.
