Doha, Qatar: Qatar claimed two gold medals in the boys’ under-18 individual and team events at the 2026 Pan Arab Junior and Girls Golf Championship, held at Madinaty Golf Club in Egypt from October 7 to 10.

Daniil Sokolov secured the individual title with an emphatic 15-stroke victory and joined teammate Kamil Benrokiya to lead Qatar to team gold, completing a successful campaign for the national junior squad.

The Qatari delegation was led by Fahad Nasser Al Naimi, Qatar Golf Association Secretary General and Executive Committee Member of the Arab Golf Federation. The double triumph highlighted the progress of Qatar’s young golfers and strengthened the country’s presence in regional competition.

Sokolov finished the three rounds at 15 under par, securing gold ahead of Palestine’s Abdul Halim Al Yaqoubi, who placed second at level par. Jordan’s Mohammad Al Rawashdeh took third at three over par, 18 strokes behind the Qatari champion.

The winning margin underlined Sokolov’s outstanding performance. He was the only player among the top three to finish under par, maintaining his consistency throughout three days of competition that demanded accuracy, concentration, and disciplined course management.

In the boys’ under-18 team event, Sokolov and Benrokiya secured gold with a combined score of seven over par. Palestine and Libya finished tied for second at 19 over par each, 12 strokes behind Qatar.

Commenting on the achievement, Al Naimi said: “We are proud of our junior national team. Winning gold in both the individual and team events reflects their discipline, commitment and team spirit, and gives our young players strong motivation to keep improving.”

“Success over three rounds requires focus, consistency, and the ability to handle competitive pressure. Our players delivered performances worthy of recognition. We see this achievement as an important step in the development of Qatari golf and as further motivation to provide our young talent with the preparation and competitive opportunities they need to build on this success,” he said.

Al Naimi continued: “The Pan Arab Junior Golf Championship is one of the region’s leading events for young golfers and is held annually under the umbrella of the Arab Golf Federation. This achievement reflects the Qatar Golf Association’s commitment to developing young players through structured training and participation in international tournaments, as we work towards further success at regional and international level.”
