Mada Center wins prize for digital empowerment

Doha: Mada - Qatar Assistive Technology Center won the Unesco-Amir Jaber Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah Prize for Digital Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, for the year 2020-2021.

Mada Center won the prize in the organisations category, in honour of its role as Center and facilitator to consolidate the meanings of digital inclusion and build an accessible technological society for people with disabilities, and for its important role in supporting the government’s strategies, legislation and policies in this field.

The committee responsible for the prize commended Mada’s distinguished work in research and development, implementation, advisory services and standardization, making assistive technology available to users with disabilities, working with accessibility principles, and promoting international cooperation.

The committee also appreciated the Center’s role in addressing the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic by providing tangible solutions that support the use of more comprehensive information on issues of education, culture and community development.

Mada Center provides a number of targeted services and activities to its strategic partners to enhance its role as a strategic enabler in the field of ICT access. 

The Center also gives priority to empowering the education sector to ensure a comprehensive educational system at all levels and continuous learning through information and communication technology.
