Doha: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has announced that the mosques will reopen for prayers (except for Friday prayers) from June 15 starting with Fajr prayer.

As many as 500 mosques are slated to reopen in phase one adhering strictly to the preventive and precautionary measures to curb the spread of COVID-19.

“The calls for prayers will be recited by the muezzins in all mosques normally without adding additional words ‘Sallau Fi Biyutkum (perform prayers at homes),” the Ministry has tweeted.

The Ministry asked the worshipers to comply with preventive and precautionary measures strictly and cooperate with the management teams at the mosques.

The senior citizens and people with chronic diseases are advised to pray at homes for their safety and health and others.
