Jakarta: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto said Friday that Southeast Asia's largest economy could achieve a 6 percent growth rate by the end of this year despite global economic uncertainties.
In his annual State of the Nation address before members of the Parliament in the capital Jakarta, Prabowo said that Indonesia's economy grew 5.61 percent in the first quarter of 2026 and 5.45 percent in the first half of the year, marking the highest first-quarter and first-half growth rates in 13 years.
"With appropriate, rational policies based on common sense, I am confident that our economic growth can reach 6 percent by the end of this year," he said.
He emphasized that investment momentum remains robust despite global challenges. Realized investment reached 1,931 trillion rupiahs (about 108 billion U.S. dollars) in 2025, creating more than 2.7 million jobs. In the first half of 2026, investment reached 1,010 trillion rupiahs, generating over 1.4 million additional jobs.
