Doha: The School Evaluation Department of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education has announced the results of the comprehensive educational survey for 2019-20 academic year.
As per the survey, the percentage of teachers’ satisfaction with students’ motivation to learn was higher in private and international schools than in the government schools. Teacher’s satisfaction in public schools was 68 percent, while in private schools it was 78 percent, and in international schools 89 percent.
The results were released during a seminar organised by the Department at the headquarters of the ministry in Al Qatifiya. The seminar was entitled ‘The Most Important Results and
Recommendations of School Performance Assessment Processes for 2019-20 Academic Year’.
The survey showed that school principals are satisfied with the quality of training courses which they attended during the academic year. The satisfaction rate was recorded at 82 percent in public schools, 60 percent in international schools and 62 percent in private Arab schools.
The comprehensive educational survey targeted 178,106 parents and received response from 5,632 parents from public schools and 2,014 parents from private schools.
The survey targeted 22,183 teachers. However, it received response from 6,489 teachers in government schools and 2,828 teachers in private schools.
A total of 126,352 students from all academic levels were targeted, representing 42 percent of the total number of students in public and private schools, and the percentage of responses among the target groups was low due to COVID-19 in the second semester of last year.
Director of School Evaluation Department, Muna Al Kuwari, chaired the seminar. A group of consultants, directors and heads of departments participated in the event.
The panellists discussed results of the comprehensive educational survey.
They also discussed regular evaluation of government schools, and the results of the national school accreditation for private schools for the academic year 2019-20.
The axes and areas of the comprehensive educational survey were also reviewed, which revolve around the extent of the target groups’ satisfaction with teaching practices and the quality of the performance of public and private schools and kindergartens.
Then the second axis of the seminar was reviewed, which was the ‘regular evaluation of public schools’, and through it, the number of schools that were evaluated in 2019-18 was identified, which amounted to 49 public schools and 12 kindergartens, while the percentage decreased in 2019-20 due to the coronavirus pandemic, where 38 government schools and 9 kindergartens were evaluated.
