Doha: One more e-scooter operator is entering Qatar market soon taking the number of e-scooter services available in Doha to three.
In coordination with the Ministry of Transport and Communications, Fenix is starting operations in key areas across Doha, including West Bay, West Bay Lagoon, Onaiza and Legtaifiya.
Visitors and residents can ‘unlock’ the e-scooters and manage their rides through Fenix mobile application.
The App is available in both English and Arabic languages, and allows users to unlock, pay and ride with a base fare of QR 3 to unlock the e-scooter followed by QR 1 per minute of use. Frequent users can sign up for monthly packages with up to 70% off.
“We want mobility to be easier, cheaper, and quite simply redesigned, so we can all reach our potential. The 20th century model of cities built around cars has gone as far as it can go. A fundamental shift to building cities for people does not require more cars and more roads, but more innovative and free navigation. These are universal needs around the world and Qatar is no different in our need for affordable, convenient mobility options,” Jaideep Dhanoa, Co-Founder and CEO of Fenix, said.
Recently two other e-scooter services – Loop and Falcon Ride – have started operation in Doha.
Riders across the globe have turned to and embraced micromobility during the pandemic given the vehicles are outdoors in open space with natural social distancing. Furthermore, Fenix has introduced the world’s first micromobility vehicle with an integrated hand sanitization pack, giving the rider full control and comfort for a sanitized, COVID-free experience. In addition, all vehicles undergo a deep sanitization while being recharged, before being re-deployed in the city.
“Fenix is not only an incredibly convenient and cost-effective transportation service, but also one that serves as a mobility facilitator, acting to improve the urban environment, decongest the roads and help make the cities more sustainable,” IQ Sayed, Co-Founder and CTO of Fenix, said.
Fenix is planning to host a series of ‘Safety Academy’ sessions in Qatar, which serves to educate users about the safe and effective use of e-scooters.
Fenix is in partnership with local firm ARC Group, which is one of the group of companies under the stewardship of Sheikh Jabor bin Mansour bin Jabor bin Jassim Al Thani.
