Doha: Telecoms giant Ooredoo has been identified by the world’s leading brand valuation consultancy as one of Qatar’s top two strongest brands by brand value.
The prestigious Brand Finance report – by the author of Qatar 10 2021 - ranked Ooredoo in the top two most powerful brands in Qatar, with a brand value set at $3.2bn.
The valuation is based on monitoring brand performance by evaluating how trust and messaging can feed into profitability.
The telecommunications operator credits the strong valuation to several factors, including its performance throughout the challenging business conditions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and its ongoing successful roll-out of the 5G network.
Ooredoo Group has also maintained its predominance in the region, remaining in the top three most valuable Middle East brands. Analysis in the Brand Finance report highlights the anticipation that strategic partnerships with Ericsson and Nokia will strengthen this further.
Researchers drew attention to the professional response of Ooredoo to the global pandemic situation, describing the company as being ‘thrust to the centre of how societies are now forced to function’. Working from home and home-schooling has drawn heavily on Ooredoo services and expertise to operate smoothly under difficult circumstances, with the telco operator’s proactive strategy in preceding years, meaning it was more than able to meet increased and shifting demands.
CEO at Ooredoo Qatar and Deputy Group CEO at Ooredoo Group Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulla Al Thani said, “We are immensely proud to be recognised as one of Qatar’s strongest brands by such a respected industry name. Thanks to our visionary leadership and the exemplary efforts of our staff, we have been able to maintain a stable position despite the ongoing challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"We are delighted to see this translating to strong brand value. As Qatar’s leading telecommunications operator, we are completely committed to the achievement of Qatar National Vision 2030 and the development of the country, and we look forward to many more years of prominence as we work towards a digital future.”
