Rabat: The State of Qatar has won 3rd place in the 20th edition of the Mohammed VI International Prize for the Memorization, Recitation, Tajweed, and Interpretation of the Holy Quran, which took place in the Moroccan capital.
Held at the Mohammed VI Institute for the Training of Imams Morchidines and Morchidates in Rabat, the competition saw broad participation from Quran memorizers and reciters from across the globe.
Contestant Yousef Ahmed Asheer represented Qatar in the event, competing in the category of memorizing the entire Holy Quran with recitation and interpretation.
Commenting on its participation in the event, the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs said that it reflects its commitment to representing the State of Qatar in international Quranic competitions and forums, as well as its ongoing efforts to support outstanding memorizers of the Holy Quran and to prepare them to compete on an international level.
The Ministry noted that Qatari contestants' achievements in international competitions demonstrate the quality of the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs' Quranic programs as well as reflect efforts exerted to preparing a generation proficient in memorizing, reciting, and understanding the meanings of the Holy Quran.
It added that these efforts contribute to strengthening Qatar's role in serving the Holy Quran and promoting its values of tolerance.
