Qatar's Al Attiyah out to defend Cyprus Rally title

Nicosia: Qatar's three time Dakar rally winner Nasser Al Attiyah yesterday kicked off his quest for the title defence at the Cyprus Rally which was ceremonially flagged off in Nicosia. The seven-time Cypress Rally winner, Al Attiyah competes in a Volkswagen Polo R5, co-driven  by Frenchman Matthieu Baumel.

Apart from Al Attiyah, Qatar's Nasser Al Kuwari is also in action from today. He is partnered with Kuwaiti driver Mshari Al Thefiri. 

The 49th International Cyprus Rally, the second round of the Middle East Rally Championship, includes a total of eleven special stages which are 97% gravel.
