Doha, Qatar: The Arab Book Award has announced that it will continue receiving submissions for its fourth edition until May 28, through the award’s official website.
The approved fields for the fourth edition include linguistic and critical studies, with this year dedicated to grammatical and morphological studies, as well as critical studies in narrative and theatre. In the field of social and philosophical studies, this edition is dedicated to Arab-Islamic philosophy and psychology.
As for historical studies, they are limited to research related to the history of the Arab and Islamic world, specifically from the 12th century AH to the present. This year’s categories include linguistic and critical studies, focusing on grammar, morphology, and criticism in narrative and theatre; social and philosophical studies, dedicated to Arab-Islamic philosophy and psychology; and historical research covering Arab and Islamic history from the 12th Hijri century to the present.
Sharia studies focus on Quranic sciences and principles of interpretation, alongside dictionaries, encyclopedias, and text verification, with emphasis on works in creed, Islamic philosophy, and jurisprudence methodology. Eligibility requires a strong scholarly contribution and quality editing.

Dr. Hanan Al-Fayad, the award’s media adviser, highlighted in a statement yesterday the role of the award in enriching the Arab cultural and intellectual landscape by promoting outstanding works that have demonstrated their scholarly value through rigorous, objective, and comprehensive evaluation, adding further merit to their scientific contributions and strengthening their impact.
Al-Fayad explained that the award seeks to benefit academic and scientific institutions from the submitted works and to engage intellectuals and scholars in cross-border Arab research projects that reflect the spirit and thought of the ummah (nation).
The Arab Book Award, launched by the State of Qatar in March 2023, focuses on books authored in Arabic and aims to honour researchers, publishing houses, and institutions contributing to the Arab book industry.
The award includes two categories, and applicants may apply to either, provided the work falls within the specified academic disciplines:
Single Book Category: This is dedicated to Arabic books whose subject falls within the award’s fields. The work must be written in Arabic, published in print, carry an international deposit number, and have been published within the past four years. It must contain no fewer than 30,000 words, adhere to academic standards, and be submitted by the author during their lifetime. Joint works are accepted provided they are not the outcome of conferences or collective seminars, and all contributors must agree.
The award criteria also state that second or later editions will not be accepted unless they meet the specified time conditions. Applications must be completed through the official website.
Achievement Category: The nominee, whether an individual or an institution, must have a body of Arabic work characterized by originality and innovation, contributing to human knowledge, while adhering to intellectual property laws. The application form must also be completed according to the detailed requirements on the award’s website.
