DOHA: Qatar Stock Exchange’s (QSE) benchmark gained 141.51 points, or 1.62 percent, last week when the bourse closed yesterday at 8,891.16 points.
Trading value during last week increased by 65.14 percent to reach QR1.60bn compared to QR974.25m at the end of the previous week.
Trading volume decreased by 10.19 percent to reach 43.54 million shares, as against 48.48 million shares, while the number of transactions rose by 24.77 percent, to reach 20,716 transactions as compared to 16,603 transactions.
Market cap rose by 1.90 percent to reach QR491.55bn as compared to QR482.38bn at the end of previous week. Banking and Financial Services sector led traded value last week with 59.45 percent of the total traded value. Industries sector accounted for 17.78 percent. Telecoms sector accounted for 7.48 percent and Transportation sector accounted for 4.80 percent.
Banking and Financial Services sector led traded volume last week with 36.24 percent of the total traded volume. Telecoms sector accounted for 19.43 percent. Industries sector accounted for 14.93 percent and Real Estate sector accounted for 12.92 percent. Banking and Financial Services sector led traded number of transactions last week with 36.72 percent of the total number of transactions. Industries sector accounted for 20.45 percent. Transportation sector accounted for 11.93 percent and Real Estate sector accounted for 11.34 percent. From the 45 listed companies at the exchange, shares of 20 firms ended last week higher, while 24 fell and one unchanged.
QNB led trading value during last week accounted for 39.49 percent of the total traded value. Industries Qatar accounted for 7.85 percent and Qatar Islamic Bank accounted for 6.56 percent, reports QNA. When compared on daily basis, the QSE index dropped 59.44 points, or 0.66 percent, on Ramadan’s first trading day.
The volume of shares traded decreased to 6.38 million from 8.40 million on Wednesday. The value of shares traded was up from QR794.35m on Wednesday to QR1.04bn yesterday.
Despite the decline, only shares of 27 companies ended yesterday lower. Shares of 14 other companies closed higher, while shares of five companies remained unchanged. It is worth noting that the index’ ETF was up 0.08 percent. All sectors however closed down for the day, with the exception of the transportation sector which closed up 0.1 percent.
