Kiev: An international conference on the role of religious values in promoting community stability and spreading a culture of coexistence and rejection of hatred, kicked off in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, yesterday.
The conference is organised by Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID) in cooperation with the Ukrainian Dialogue and Communications Center.
The conference was opened by HE Ukrainian Minister of Culture and Department on Religions and Nationalities Yevhen Nyshchuk, with the participation of a group of intellectuals and researchers from the three heavenly religions.
Addressing the opening session, DICID Chairman Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi highlighted the growing relations between Qatar and Ukraine, which are witnessing a great development in all fields and reflected in the organization of this international conference in cooperation between two important institutions, the Ukrainian Dialogue and Communications Center and the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID).
Dr. Al Nuaimi noted that the conflicts which are currently threatening security and stability of the world, are one of the greatest challenges which require to seek ways to confront and resolve them.
Board member of Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID) Mohammed Al Ghamdi present a workshop on the role of religious institutions in promoting a culture of coexistence and rejection of hatred in all the issues that plague the world today.
The worksheet dealt with two main axes, namely the definition of religious institutions and their role in promoting a culture of coexistence and rejection of hatred, and proposals to develop the role of religious institutions.
The conference is the first of its kind to be held under the official patronage of the Department of Religions and Nationalities in Ukraine. It is also the first conference to bring together all governmental and private religious institutions and departments to promote positive cooperation between followers of religions.
