Doha: Minister of Public Health H E Mansoor bin Ebrahim bin Saad Al Mahmoud has affirmed that Qatar’s healthcare sector is operating at a high level of readiness and preparedness, with all hospitals and health centers functioning around the clock to ensure uninterrupted services and rapid response to any emergency.

In an interview with Qatar TV yesterday, the Minister emphasised that emergency departments across the country are fully equipped and ready to handle any unforeseen developments.

He noted that the healthcare system in Qatar is supported by a comprehensive operational framework that ensures continuous monitoring and swift decision-making. The Minister highlighted that Qatar maintains an integrated medical supply system, backed by a robust strategic stockpile capable of covering the country’s needs for up to nine months.

He stressed that, so far, there has been no need to draw on this reserve, underscoring the stability of supply chains. “Authorities are closely monitoring global and regional supply routes to guarantee uninterrupted access to medicines and medical equipment,” said Al Mahmoud.

He further pointed to strong coordination among Gulf Cooperation Council member states in the field of medical supply, noting that no challenges have been encountered in importing pharmaceuticals or essential medical materials. Any potential disruptions, he said, are addressed promptly to ensure continuity.

Providing insight into operational oversight, the Minister revealed that a dedicated operations room is actively tracking key performance indicators across the healthcare system.

“These include hospital readiness, bed capacity, emergency intake levels, and fluctuations in demand. Monitoring is conducted around the clock to ensure the system remains responsive and adaptable,” said Al Mahmoud.

The Minster also praised the continuous efforts of medical and administrative personnel, who are working tirelessly to deliver essential healthcare services. “Routine and critical services, including dialysis, childhood vaccinations, and patient reception at health centers, remain fully operational without interruption,” said Al Mahmoud.

On blood supply, the Minister confirmed that reserves are not only sufficient but currently exceed normal levels, reinforcing the sector’s preparedness for emergencies. He reiterated that Qatar’s healthcare system, as a whole, is well-positioned to respond to any crisis.

Reflecting on the sector’s strengths, the Minister attributed its resilience to sustained support from the country’s leadership.

He noted that Qatar has developed a world-class healthcare infrastructure over the years, supported by approximately 26 hospitals across public, semi-government, and private sectors.

Additionally, the country’s healthcare workforce includes around 60,000 highly qualified medical and nursing professionals, contributing to the system’s flexibility and efficiency.

Addressing recent developments, Al Mahmoud said that since the onset of the current exceptional circumstances in Qatar and the wider region, all recorded cases have been minor and treated promptly.

“Patients were discharged on the same day after receiving care at medical institutions and health centres.” He added that only one case remains hospitalised, with the patient reported to be in stable condition.

The Minister underscored the high level of coordination among government entities, particularly through the Civil Defence framework and other national bodies.  He praised the professionalism and effectiveness demonstrated in managing the situation, with each entity fulfilling its role to ensure a unified response.

In his closing remarks, the Minister called on the public to rely on official sources for information and avoid circulating unverified news.

He reassured the community that the healthcare sector remains a top priority for the leadership and is fully capable of handling any emergency.

He concluded by expressing gratitude for the collective efforts across institutions and offered prayers for the continued safety and stability of Qatar, its leadership, and its people.
