Technical meeting of Qatar Cup held

The Qatar Stars League (QSL) held a technical meeting at Al Bidda tower to discuss the upcoming Qatar Cup semi-finals.
Representatives of Lekhwiya, Al Sadd, Al Rayyan and El Jaish met with Ahmed Al Adsani, head of competitions of the QSL to go through crucial match day operations.
The clubs also revealed the kits their sides would be wearing ahead of the semi-finals.
The first match will be between second placed Al Sadd and rivals Al Rayyan which is set to take place on Thursday the April 20 at 7.00pm at Al Sadd Stadium.
The second semi-final will see league champions Lekhwiya take on El Jaish on April 21, also at 7.00pm Al Sadd stadium.
Also present at the meeting was a representative of the referees association, who encouraged cooperation between the teams.
Meanwhile, Hassan Al Kuwari, Executive Director of Marketing and Communications at the QSL has confirmed that preparations are well underway ahead of the kick-off of the 2017 Qatar Cup tournament.
Al Kuwari confirmed that the QSL turned their attentions to Qatar Cup preparations as soon as the domestic season came to an end, last weekend.
“In a continuation of last year, the semi-finals will take place over two days in order to give the fans the opportunity to enjoy both games between the best four sides in Qatar. Everyone at the QSL has been pulling together to organize the tournament.”
“The semi-finals could see a new team crowned as Qatar Cup winners as either Al Sadd or Al Rayyan are set to take on the winner of the match between Lekhwiya and El Jaish. We are certainly expecting a good final match, which will be well attended just like any of the Cup finals in Qatar” added Al Kuwari.
The Executive Director of Marketing and Communications also revealed that a host of prizes will be on offer during the three games.
“Both Semi-finals will have prize draws which will include the chance to win a car. We will also have further prizes available for the Final which will be announced at a special press conference in due course.”
“We are looking to build on the success of last season’s Qatar Cup tournament. The QSL has been holding regular meetings with key stake holders and the security forces to ensure a well-organized and enjoyable experience for the fans and sponsors” noted Al Kuwari.
