The Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum (QOSM) has launched “321 Activation,” a daily online series of workshops and fitness challenges with athletes, expert trainers and health professionals in Qatar.
The series aims to support families sheltering at home during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and encourage everyone to remain active.
QOSM’s 321 Activation program will air on the Museum’s Instagram account (@321qosm) Sundays through Thursdays at 2pm. The series includes “321 Inspiration” which provides a sneak peek at the future Museum’s program educating the community about the Olympic Values. Each week will cover one session on the Values with inspiring sports stories linking to this program.
The digital initiative also includes “321 Skills & Challenge” which comprise fitness challenges each week to encourage activity and build upon strength and “321 Active @ Home” which are home fitness sessions for the whole family, featuring QOSM’s “Active Heroes” and Active Family– members of the community with inspirational stories to share about the impact of fitness on their lives.
Another component of the programme is “321 Health & Fitness” in which athletes in Qatar will share their current physical fitness routines from their own homes, inspiring viewers to create their own. The museum is coordinating with various national sports federations for the athletes to participate in the program and inspire the community.
“Though we had planned to launch the 321 Activation series supporting our community later this year, it just couldn’t wait and our objective behind this online activation program is to inspire the community to stay active and be positive,” said Abdulla Yousuf Al Mulla, Director of the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum.
“Providing resources that encourage our community to stay inspired and active, even while at home, embodies the mission of the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum. We hope the public enjoys and utilizes the online resources, and we look forward to welcoming the public to the new Museum when it opens next year,” said Al Mulla.
The 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum will inspire people to take part in sports and physical activity, and educate the community about the origins of Global, Olympic and Qatari sports. The museum aims to preserve the history of sports, from origins to modern day, making it accessible to all who live in or visit Qatar.
The Museum is a member of the Olympic Museum Network, which currently unites 22 Olympic museums worldwide. QOSM will comprise 19,000 square meters of gallery space housing hundreds of objects from around the world, making it one of the largest of its kind in the world, in terms of its floor plan, exhibition space and content. It will include interactive exhibits, inspiring objects and unique activity areas that encourage visitor participation. The Museum is located at Khalifa International Stadium, part of Qatar’s Aspire Zone Foundation. The Stadium, originally built in 1976, will host the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
