Doha: The Ambassador of China to Qatar, H E Zhou Jian, has said that Qatar and China relations have been elevated in the last few years.
“Last year and in the first quarter of this year, China became the largest trading partner of Qatar, marking the best period in the history of our bilateral ties. China recently celebrated the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.
“We are ready to work alongside Qatar on a new journey of national development and revitalisation, write a new chapter of our friendship and cooperation, and bring more welfare to both countries and people,” he said.
Speaking on the occasion of Eid Al Adha, he said, “On the occasion of Eid Al Adha, I wish to extend, on behalf of the Chinese government and people, sincere greetings and best wishes to Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Father Amir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and the Deputy Amir H H Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani and to the brotherly Qatari people and all the Muslim people in Qatar.”
“Shortly after I arrived in Qatar in 2019, it was during the Eid Al Adha, I was deeply impressed by the joyful scenes of Qatari people visiting friends and families, sharing food, and exchanging greetings. This year is my third Eid Al Adha in Qatar. With the pandemic ongoing, I have a more profound understanding of this Eid,” Jian added.
The Ambassador emphasised that Eid Al Adha is a festival of sacrifice.
“I am glad to see that under the leadership of H H the Amir, Qatar has brought the pandemic under control. Qatar’s vaccination rate ranks among the top 10 globally, and its economy and social life are back on track. These achievements could not be made without everyone’s support and cooperation with government policies, which is a vivid reflection of sacrifice in Islam.
“We hope everyone will continue to follow the guidelines of the government and experts to help defeat the pandemic at an early date,” he added. On Qatar and China cooperation to fight the coronavirus pandemic, he said, “Eid Al Adha is a festival of unity. Solidarity and mutual assistance are ideals of Islam and also the fundamental strength of China-Qatar relations. In the fight against the pandemic, our two governments and peoples have shared weal and woe and supported each other.
According to the Ambassador, Eid Al Adha is a festival of harmony. He noted that there are more than 23 million Muslims in China. They are celebrating this grand occasion just like Qatar and other Muslims worldwide, the Ambassador said.
