Qatar football heavyweights, reigning champions Al Sadd and the former title holders Al Duhail resumed their training after returning from the overseas camps in Spain and Austria respectively, ahead of the start of new football season.

The Xavi Hernandez-coached Al Sadd team returned to Doha on August 14 following a 12-day training camp held in Barcelona.

The team trained in the absence of the international players who are currently with the Qatar national team in preparation for the European qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup.

Some of the Al Sadd players who are with the Olympic team preparing for the AFC U-23 Cup qualifiers also skipped the training camp.

In Austria, Al Duhail had played three friendly matches during their overseas camp, where they beat Austrian clubs Schwechat (2-0) and Admira (5-1) before losing to Albanian side Kukesi 1-2.
