Jakarta: Indonesia's upstream oil and gas regulator SKK Migas is reviving an industry economic forum after eight years, with the country seeking to meet its 2026 oil production target amid declining output.

The forum, organized by state-owned Pertamina Hulu Energi, will be held in Jakarta on Oct. 28-29, bringing together industry players and government officials, said Desti Melanti, SKK Migas deputy for finance and commercialization.

Desti said Indonesia aims to maintain oil production at 610,000 barrels per day in 2026 despite challenges posed by declining output from mature fields.

With just over two months remaining in the year, the regulator is exploring new strategies to achieve the target, she said.

Most of Indonesia's oil fields are mature, making it increasingly difficult to offset natural production declines. SKK Migas is promoting large-scale drilling programs to sustain output and attract more investment in the upstream oil and gas sector.
