Doha: The National Human Rights Committee (NHRC), in cooperation with the Arab Institute for Human Rights, has concluded the second phase of the training programme on human rights for law enforcement personnel in various parts of the country.

The training programme will continue during the year 2021. The third phase of the programme will be implemented in the second half of 2021. The programme aims to support participants’ knowledge and skills in the field of human rights to enhance their role in protecting these rights in line with relevant national legislation and international human rights law.

The National Human Rights Committee is working, in coordination with the Arab Institute for Human Rights, to develop an annual training program and the contents of training courses and workshops.

The training team at the Arab Institute for Human Rights undertakes scientific supervision of the program and determines the trainers staff in proportion to the training needs.

The Director of Programs and Education Department at the National Human Rights Committee Mubarak Al Safran (pictured), said that the National Committee seeks technical support for the program and communicates with official institutions and the target groups of the training program in the State of Qatar to ensure their participation in the training courses.

He pointed out that the target groups of the training program are officers in the Police College, judges, and employees of the prison administration, according to the work program agreed upon with the Arab Institute for Human Rights.

He added that this program consists in organizing a series of general and specialized workshops and training courses that take into account the human rights needs of the beneficiaries, pointing out that during the first half of this year, a workshop and two training sessions will be presented, as the first workshop was presented in late January.

Al Safran explained that in the second phase of the training program, a group of participants in the two general sessions will be selected to participate in the specialized courses according to their fields of work and specialties.
