Gold tops $4,000 per ounce

Singapore: Gold prices rose Tuesday as oil prices declined amid signs of diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions between the US and Iran.

Spot gold rose 0.5% to $4,023.56 per ounce as of 0146 GMT, while US gold futures for August delivery gained 0.3% to $4,028.

Among other precious metals, spot silver climbed 0.9% to $56.93 per ounce, platinum slipped 0.2% to $1,591.22, while palladium added 0.3% to $1,256.68.
