Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Municipality has made significant headway in expanding Qatar’s public green spaces and recreational infrastructure, completing the initial handover of 12 parks and five public plazas, according to the Ministry’s 2025 Annual Report, outlining the achievements of its Projects and Development Management Department.
The report revealed that the Ministry achieved the initial handover of 12 parks out of a planned total of 39, alongside the initial handover of five plazas out of 12 last year, marking important milestones in the implementation of projects aimed at enhancing the country’s urban landscape and improving the quality of life for residents.
The report further showed that package (B) of the camera installation project at parks and public facilities reached 87 percent completion, while the Municipalities and Administrative Buildings Surveillance Camera Project achieved 92 percent completion, reflecting continued progress in delivering key municipal infrastructure projects.
Beyond parks and plazas, the Projects and Development Management Department recorded a broad range of achievements in project planning, implementation and operational support.
The department installed surveillance camera systems at more than 85 locations and connected over 15 sites to the Central Operations Room, strengthening monitoring capabilities and improving operational efficiency.
As part of its efforts to enhance municipal services, the department processed more than 6,000 service requests, distributed 27,908 computers to support digital transformation initiatives, and maintained a workforce of 220 employees.
It also delivered approximately 370,000 hours of simplified operations, underscoring its commitment to maintaining efficient field operations.
The report also highlighted substantial progress in environmental and preparatory works. More than 100,000 tonnes of waste were removed, while 300,000 square metres of excavation works were completed in preparation for new municipal development projects.
On the planning and procurement front, the department prepared four business cases, finalised two tender documents, and floated four tenders. It also carried out two market sounding studies for Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects and prepared PPP tender documents for the Waste-to-Energy Conversion Project, supporting the Ministry’s drive to attract private-sector participation in strategic infrastructure initiatives.
The report also highlighted progress in urban beautification, with the ministry completing the handover of 51 road beautification projects out of a planned total of 92. The projects form part of ongoing efforts to enhance Qatar’s streetscape, improve the urban environment, and create more attractive public spaces across the country.
