Doha: The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs announced the continuation of the closure of mosques and the suspension of congregational prayers (the five obligatory prayers and Friday prayers) until the public health condition becomes safer for the worshipers, while the call to prayer (Adhan) in all mosques will continue.
The Ministry said, in a statement, that Imam Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab Mosque is exempted from this decision, in which Friday prayers will be exclusively held in the presence of only 40 people - including the imams and mosque's employees, as well as isha and Taraweeh prayers during the blessed month of Ramadan, in the presence of the imam and four of the mosque's employees, taking into account the health precautions directed by the Ministry of Public Health.
The Ministry confirmed that it will continue to communicate with the competent authorities to follow up on the situation of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), and it will reopen all mosques once the epidemic is contained.
The Ministry said that this procedure has been adopted to ensure the safety of the community.
The Ministry added that these prayers will be transmitted to the public on television and radio channels, with the assurance that it is not permissible to perform prayer by listening radio, television and other means of communication.
The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs extended sincere congratulations to HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, and HH the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Thani and to the Qatari government and people and the entire Islamic nation on the advent of the Holy Month of Ramadan.
