Over 39 tonnes of dates sold as exhibition ends today

Doha: Over 39 tonnes of dates sold out so far at the third Local Dates Exhibition, which is set to conclude today at Souq Waqif.

The exhibition, began on October 14, aims to promote the national product of dates and introduce its different types. The exhibition opens from 3pm to 10pm today.

“About 50 tonnes of dates were supplied for the exhibition, and more than 39 tonnes of them have been sold till Thursday, October 21,” said Ahmed A Yafei, Head of the Section of Agricultural Guidance and Services, Department of Agricultural Affairs of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.

He said that the good sales reflect people’s interest in the exhibition and its importance as the prices are cheap and range from QR8 to QR15 per kg, depending on the type, as there are many varieties.
