Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs offered an Umrah trip to twenty students, under the supervision of six educational supervisors, as a gift to outstanding private school students honoured during the “Proud of You” event.
The students include those who have memorised the Holy Qur’an, and who participated in activities organised by the Private Schools and Kindergartens Department.
This took place during a ceremony held at the theatre of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, attended by Omar Al Nuaimi, Assistant Undersecretary for Private Education Affairs; Dr. Rania Mohammed, Director of the Private Schools and Kindergartens Department; Dr. Saleh Ali Al Marri, Director of the Sheikh Abdulla Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Center at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs; as well as the winning students, their parents, and senior officials from both sides.
The Umrah trip aims to teach students how to perform Umrah in a faith-based and educational spirit.
It also aims to instil core Islamic values such as discipline, honesty, cooperation, respect, and benevolence, and strengthen their religious identity. It also seeks to deepen pride in the biography of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), teach students the recitation, interpretation, and practical application of Surah Al-Fatihah in their daily lives, in addition to morning, evening, and travel supplications. The programme includes visits to historical sites such as Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Madinah Al-Munawwarah, linking these visits to faith-based and behavioural lessons, while also developing leadership and teamwork skills among students.
In his speech at the ceremony, Omar Al Nuaimi praised the fruitful partnership with the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, expressing his gratitude and appreciation for allocating Umrah trips for private school students, as this supports and encourages values of excellence. Al Nuaimi stated that this gift means a great deal to outstanding students honoured at the “Proud of You” event, to Qur’an memorisers, and to distinguished participants, as it combines the joy of achievement with the strengthening of faith and spirituality within students.
Dr. Saleh Ali Al Marri commended the efforts of the Ministry of Education, praising the inclusion of the private education sector in this award as a distinctive addition that motivates other students to memorise the Book of Allah and supports them in maintaining their Islamic identity. He also encouraged students to motivate their peers to follow their example.
