The Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities (RACA), in collaboration with the Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies, will organise a conference entitled ‘The relationship between scientific research and the Qatari humanitarian sector’.
The event aims at exchanging expertise and experiences on ways to optimise the use of scientific research in order to develop the efforts of humanitarian organisations and increase their effectiveness and to draw a road map to determine the relationship between scientific research and the Qatari humanitarian sector, said a press release.
It will also help work jointly towards setting priorities for scientific research in the field of humanitarian action in the State of Qatar and encourage the relevant authorities to support and sponsor scientific research in the field of humanitarian action in the State of Qatar.
The online conference will be held today. The keynote address will be delivered by Ibrahim Abdulla Al Dehaimi, General Manager of the Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities (RACA).
Among the participants from Qatar will be Youssef bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, CEO of Qatar Charity; Ibrahim Al Maliki, Executive Director of Qatar Red Crescent Society; Fahd Al Sulaiti, Executive Director of Education Above All, and Dr. Hatem Mhenni of Qatar National Research Fund.
Specialised interventions will be made by Dr. Arne Strand, Director of U4 Anti-Corruption Resource Centre, Chr. Michelsen Institute (CMI), Norway; Sorcha O’Callaghan, Director of Humanitarian Policy Group (HPG) in the Overseas Development Institute (ODI), United Kingdom; and Dr. Antonio de Laurie, President of the Norwegian Center for Humanitarian Studies.
The conference sessions will be moderated by Professor Sultan Barakat, Director and Founder of the Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies (CHS), in addition to the question-and-answer session.
The conference will also bring together several prominent experts and specialists in the humanitarian sector in the State of Qatar.
