Quran reciting contests with prizes of QR140,000 begin today

Doha: The second edition of ‘Ratil w Arsil’ (recite and send) holy Quran reciting contests will begin today (Sunday) on WhatsApp and Microsoft-Teams for citizens and expatriates.

The contests will be organised by the Organising Committee of Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani Holy Quran Contest at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs.

The winners will get prizes worth QR140,000. The competition was divided into three categories. The first category ‘Baraim’ will be on WhatsApp No 66581114 from 9am to 8pm, said the Ministry in a release.

The contestants — citizens and expatriates — from age 6 to 12 are required to send their video footage of recitation of  the holy Quran with maximum duration of 60 seconds after typing their name, age and telephone number.

Baraim contest will be divided into two phases. First one will be held from Ramadan 3 to 7 in which ten participants each from citizens and expatriates will be selected and they will be asked to send documents to prove their identity then they will asked to send a new video by Ramadan 8.

The second phase of Baraim contest will be held on Ramadan 9 and the winners will be announced on Ramadan 10.

The top ten contestants from citizens and expatriate will get cash prizes. 

The second category of the contest will be on variant in reciting holy Quran which include Riwyat Hafs recitation and others through WhatsApp No. 55592080 for phase one, while  phase two contest will be held on Microsoft-Teams.

The citizens and expatriates above 12 can participate by sending video recording of maximum one minute of recitation of Holy Quran from 9am to 8pm.

The third category of the contest is Ajmal Telawa (beautiful recitation of the holy Quran) which will be held from Ramadan 5 to 15.

The contestants from citizens and expatriates age 13 to 25 can participate by sending the video footage of recitation of the holy Quran from 4pm to 8pm. The contest organizing committee will receive 20 entries in a day.
