After a very eventful first day of Trescon’s World 5G Show, the day two of Qatar Innovation Week opened with the 13th edition of the global AI conference, World AI Show to a packed house in Doha yesterday. With an energetic crowd of over 200 delegates that included Qatar’s top government authorities, International AI & ML experts and solution providers, the conference facilitated discussions on diverse topics around making Qatar an AI-Led economy.
Discussions at World AI Show centred on Qatar’s greater plan of driving technology and innovation through its ambitious National Vision 2030 roadmap. The event saw the active participation of the country’s top government heads such as Dr. Fethi Filali, Qatar Mobility Innovations Center, Head of Technology Development & Applied Research and Hayfa Al - Abdulla, Director of Innovation at Qatar Science & Technology Park, both of whom engaged in a panel discussion on the role of an AI-enabled Digital Government to help Qatar’s vision 2030. During the panel discussion, Dr. Fethi Filali added, “Digital e-services can help us with transparency and is an important step as a one per cent increase in corruption can impact the economy by 6 percent. I believe that e-services are making transparency much clearer for individuals and organisations.”
The event also featured powerful keynotes from Sachin Kumar, Head of Google Developers Group and CTO - TupeloLife, Qatar; Ahmed Alkahlout, Head of Digital at Qatar Foundation and Adnan Albanna, Senior Consultant at Digital Transformation in Logistics and Supply Chain, Milaha among other top speakers. While speaking about the importance of an AI-powered industry, Adnan Albanna quoted, “I strongly believe that whatever made you successful in the past, rest assured it won’t in the future. We have to evolve with technology! We all remember the names of big companies who thought they would never be defeated, but they are not there anymore!”
Other key high-level takeaways from the conference included talks on leveraging machine learning and AI algorithms to defend against advanced cyber-threats; How Startups can succeed in the Age of Artificial Intelligence and the powerful synergy of AI & 5G in transforming Qatar through the demonstration of comprehensive use cases.
