Qatar reports rise in Covid-19 cases as 163 recover on Jan 28

Doha: Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) today reported 347 new cases of coronavirus (Coivd-19) and 163 people recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of people recovered in Qatar to 145,414.

Out of the 347 new cases, 318 are community cases and 29 from travellers returning from abroad.

Till now 248 people succumbed to the virus in Qatar, which is one of the lowest in the world.

The total number of positive Covid-19 cases recorded in Qatar is 150,280 and there are 4,618 active cases under treatment.

5,478  people were tested for the first time in the last 24 hours (9,738 tests in total) taking the total tests done so far to 1,374,442 tests.

There are 53 cases of hospital admissions in the last 24 hours taking the total number of patients in the hospital to 403

Three were admitted to intensive care in the last 24 hours, and so 42 people continue to receive medical attention in ICU.

While the restrictions of COVID-19 are gradually being lifted in Qatar, it is important for everyone to play their role in controlling the virus by following precautionary measures:

- Adherence to physical distancing

- Avoid close contact with others, crowded places, and confined closed spaces where other people congregate

- Wearing a face mask

- Washing hands regularly
