Doha: Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC) has launched an e-learning programme as part of a broader initiative to upskill staff and elevate the standard and performance of the country’s entire tourism sector.

The trainings are conducted on LinkedIn’s e-learning platform and include project management, business writing, and presentations to QNTC’s Service Excellence programme.

A cornerstone programme, it works to establish Qatar as a global leader for high-quality service across every touchpoint of the customer journey.

Denisa Spinkova, who leads QNTC’s Service Excellence team, hosted a session on the initiative, providing an overview of the strategic imperatives and the way forward. With over 20 years of experience in the hospitality, aviation, and tourism industries, Spinkova presented details of the programme that aims to work with stakeholders to create an unparalleled world-leading experience for visitors.

In addition to the training, the e-learning programme offers staff access to online sessions such as the ‘Knowledge Talk Series” and participating in virtual conferences and seminars. The programme also includes training by the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs, and academic scholarships to complete bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees for Qatari employees funded by Qatar.

Over the past year, QNTC continued prioritising training and education programs. Residents in Qatar won 25 scholarships to IE University UNWTO Tourism Online Academy, of which QNTC is a founding member.  The certification programme enabled those interested in the tourism sector to enhance their skills and advance their careers in tourism management. The initiative was part of an ongoing effort to build sector capacity during the COVID-19 pandemic.
