Doha, Qatar: Qatar's Angelo Scalzone secured a silver medal in the men's trap event at the ISSF World Cup Hangzhou 2026 yesterday, finishing runner-up after a closely contested final against American William Hinton.
Scalzone produced an outstanding performance throughout the final, staying level with Hinton for much of the contest in a field featuring Olympic medallists, world champions and rising stars.
The Qatari kept the battle for gold alive until the closing stages before a late miss proved decisive, allowing Hinton to claim the title with 28 hits, one ahead of Scalzone's 27.
The silver medal marks another significant achievement for Qatar on the international shooting stage, with Scalzone delivering one of his finest performances against one of the strongest fields of the season.
China's Qi Ying delighted the home crowd by claiming the bronze medal with 22 hits after a composed display throughout the eliminations.
Italy's Massimo Fabbrizi, the London 2012 Olympic silver medallist, finished fourth with 16 hits, narrowly missing out on the podium.
Chinese Taipei's Yang Kun-Pi placed fifth with 13 hits, while India's Bhowneesh Mendiratta took sixth with 11.
