Qatar clinches fourth gold at Asian Games

Jakarta: Qatar clinched the fourth gold medal at the 18th Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia, today taking the total medal tally to nine.

Cherif Younousse Samba and Ahmed Tijan Janko beat Ade Candra Rachmawan and Mohammad Ashfiya of Indonesia in two straight sets to claim an historic gold in beach volleyball. 

Qatar also won a bronze medal in equestrian Jumping Team today. The team of Hamad Alattiayah, 

Ali Althani, Basem Mohammed and Salmen Alsuwaidi secured a medal from Jakarta International Equestrian Park.

With these medals Qatar is now in 15th position in the medal tally with nine medals so far, after Abderrahman Samba's 400m hurdles gold medal, Abdalelah Haroun's 400m gold medal, Ashraf Saifi's gold medal in hammer throw, Yesir Salem Mubarak's silver in 3000m steeplechase, Tosin Ogunode's silver in 100m sprint, Fares Hassouna's silver in weightlifting (94kg), and Hammad al-Marri's bronze medal in shooting (Double Trap).

Qatar men’s handball team has quallified for the finals assuring a gold or silver.
