Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Transport announced the gradual resumption of maritime navigation for marine vessels licensed specifically for fishing activities, starting from Monday, March 30, 2026.
This resumption, the Ministry clarified, was subject to the following controls and technical requirements:
- Safety Check: Ensure the safety, readiness, and seaworthiness of the vessel before departure.
- AIS Requirement: Commitment to carrying and operating the Automatic Identification System (AIS) throughout the duration of the voyage until the return to port.
- VHF Radio: Commitment to carrying and operating the wireless communication device (VHF – Channel 16) throughout the duration of the voyage until the return to port.
- Legal Compliance: Adherence to all provisions of the Marine Vessels Law, its executive regulations, and any related decisions.
